China´s riot police team in Haiti has made a series of headlines in the Chinese media over the last couple of days. Escorting the rescue and press teams has been added to the riot squad´s long list of duties.
China is contributing more money and relief materials to Haiti. Liu Zhenmin, China´s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations announced on Thursday that an additional 2.6 million U.S. dollars in cash and a 40-member medical care and epidemic prevention team will be sent to Haiti.
A total of 123 children from Haiti are now in the southern Dutch city of Eindhoven. The orphans, aged two months to seven years, are expected to meet their new families.
Makeshift hospitals are popping up across Haiti as international organizations attempt to relieve the burden on hospitals.
