Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |
More than a week after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the island nation, security remains a key concern as the international community continues sending aid to Haiti.
Haiti was delivered another blow when a magnitude 6.1 aftershock struck the Capital Wednesday morning.
With humanitarian efforts still a work in progress and with violence erupting in parts of the country, the top priority in Haiti is to make sure that frustration does not further hamper relief efforts.
Lt. General Ken Keen, Commander of Joint Task Force Haiti, said, "Security remains calm, but there are pockets of violence. Of course there were pockets of violence before the earthquake. And, we are very cognizant that as we go forward the results of the hurricane (sic) will increasingly manifest themselves into security issues and frustration among the people of the populace--if we are not able to address it."
