A Chinese rescue team has bolstered international relief efforts in Haiti. The US has provided 100 million dollars in aid, while many other countries have pledged their support.

A Chinese rescue team arrived in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince early Thursday morning. The 68-strong team brought 10 tons of food, equipment and medicine. They were among the first group of international rescuers to arrive at the quake-zone.

Liu XiangYang, Deputy Captain of Chinese Rescue Team, said, "We are investigating the site and assessing the damage. It's fair to say things are looking very bad. We will be facing many challenges. We have set a rescue plan and will implement it accordingly."

China has provided a million US dollars in humanitarian aid.
