Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

With the 2008 Olympics approaching, organizers say 2007 is a crucial year. Officials with the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, or BOCOG, has held a meeting to summarize their work in 2006, and release their plan for 2007.

BOCOG held their fourth plenary session on Tuesday. Preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies, and the torch relay were going on well. What's more, Olympic venue construction was progressing steadily and China successfully staged two test events, including the Qingdao International Regatta and the Women's Softball Championships.

The IOC Executive Board agreed on a final version of the schedule for competition schedule. And the affordable ticket program proved to be very popular.

BOCOG also unveiled their plan for 2007 which includes launching a ticket reservation program, boosting construction for Olympic venues, and opening the Number 5 subway line to traffic. They will also hold 26 test events, finalize the torch relay route, recruit torch bearers and volunteers and purchase sports equipment.
