Suzhou's ancient town hosts folklore activities to celebrate Chinese New Year

People in various parts of China have been spending the week-long Spring Festival holiday in the start of the New Year since Saturday, with a great variety of festive activities. In one ancient town, a series of events with roots in local folklore is being held. Among them is a tradition known as 'whipping the spring ox' to wish for a good harvest in the coming year.
