The Japanese government sent a 60-member rescue team to China -- the first group of foreign rescue professionals after the magnitude 8.0 quake on May 12. The team, together with Chinese colleagues, had recovered 18 bodies. The 60 rescuers would fly back to Japan on May 21. And, A 23-member Japanese medical team arrived in Chengdu on May 20.
A 50-member Russian rescue team arrived in Sichuan on May 16, bringing three heavy-duty professional vehicles for rescue work in the Mianzhu and Dujiangyan areas. They saved a woman survivor trapped in the debris of the building after 127 hours. And, 30 people of the 50-member Russian rescue team, along with some equipment, were scheduled to take a charter flight back to Russia on May 20.

South Korean rescue team arrived in Chengdu on May 16th. The team is composed of 41 rescue workers and 3 officials of the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Singapore sends a 55-member Disaster Assistance Rescue Team (DART) contingent to Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, to assist the local authorities in their search and rescue efforts.
