Doctors from all over the world have been working in areas affected by the earthquake. CCTV reporter Pan Deng went to a Russian field hospital in Penzhou city, close to the epicenter, to look at the intensive work by foreign doctors there.

Doctors from all over the world have been working in  areas affected by the earthquake.

The senior man in the middle survived the earthquake right in the epicenter, Wenchuan. When it struck, he jumped 5 meters down from the second floor.

He broke his spine, but climbed the mountains to make the 40-kilometer journey to his son's home. It took him two days. After an emergency operation, he came to consult the Russian doctors.

Sergey Sozinov is the orthopedist here. Facilities in this temporary hospital may seem primitive, but standard procedures can't be skipped.

He needs to take a better look at the man's injury.

The operation tent is free, so he examines the patient here. With help from his Russian colleague and Chinese volunteers, preparations go smoothly.

The man is till in pain. Sozinov examines him gently, but anaesthesic is still needed. Sozinov finds the previous operation was successful, but he tells the man's son that his father must lie flat in bed for at least half a year, without any sitting or standing.

Orthopedist Dr. Sergey Sozinov said, "I usually work in a general hospital, I came here to treat quake victims at the call of the Russian government. So far, most of the people I've treated here broke their legs and arms. This case is a bit rare. I will try my best to help all the patients."

Doctors in this field hospital have operated on 44 people and nearly all the beds are occupied. They work around the clock to give patients immediate treatment.
