Residents in the south have been inundated by heavy rainstorms for several months. And there's no let-up in sight, as weather authorities predict more rain coming over the next 10 days.

Southwest China and regions along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are expected to see 70- 130 millimeters of rain. Parts of the regions will even see a high of up to 250 millimeters.

A new round of heavy rainfall hit southeastern Jiangxi Province Wednesday. This is the 14th time since March that heavy downpours have affected southern China, including Jiangxi. Local authorities say water levels of several rivers have already exceeded the warning line. They also warns of the risk of floods and landslides.

In southwest China's Chongqing, heavy rainfall brought low temperatures, with a drop of 8 Celsius degrees. Residents had to put their thick winter outfits back on to stay warm. Moreover, the torrential rain also has led to extensive water logging in some of the city's main streets.
