China's National Meteorological Center has issued a blue alert for rainstorms and severe convective weather.

Moderate to heavy rain will hit the Yangtze-Huaihe river basin, south of the Yangtze River, southwest China and south China. Regions most at risk include southern Anhui, northern and southern Jiangxi, central-southeastern Hunan and northern Guangdong.

The recent convective weather has already caused damage in many places. In Shaoguan city of south China's Guangdong province, traffic was brought to a standstill for a time due to heavy rainfall. The new round of downpours will begin Sunday.

In Linwu county of central China's Hunan province, hailstones and tornadoes felled trees and destroyed dozens of houses. In some villages, all crops were destroyed.

In Nayong county of southwest China's Guizhou province, over 30 thousand people were affected by hailstones. The hailstones reached densities as high as 100 pieces per square meter.
