Residents in South China have been inundated with heavy rainstorms for several months.
China's National Meteorological Centre says precipitation in some places since March has hit 430 millimetres - the highest level since 1976. It warned that mountainous areas in Southwest China could be affected by rain-triggered landslides and flooding over the next two days.
Meanwhile, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters also warned of the the risk of heavy flooding along the Yangtze River, Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake in the near future.
