ISLAMABAD, June 12 (Xinhua) -- As many as 39 militants were killed in the ongoing operation in northwestern Pakistan during the last 24 hours, the army said in a statement on Friday.
At the same time, 10 soldiers lost their lives and 24 were injured in the operation in various areas of Malakand Division in North West Frontier Province (NWFP), said the statement.
The security forces continue to consolidate their positions in Swat valley of NWFP where clashes with militants took place.
Meanwhile, the security forces are also engaged in relief activities for the internally displaced persons in the northwest.
Security forces launched the operation in Swat valley and other districts of NWFP against militants late April. More than 1,400 militants have been killed in the operation.
