Iranian cities have been the scene of massive protests for the past week, with at least 13 more demonstrators being killed on Saturday.

Police say 457 people were arrested on the same day.

Police and Basij militia have swarmed the streets of Tehran for the past few days to prevent more protests.

Hasan Qashqavi, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, said, "Iran has a high democratic capacity to settle its internal issues. The spread of anarchy and vandalism by western powers and western media is not acceptable to us at all."

The police have successfully managed to restore security in the main streets of Tehran and calm has returned to the Iranian capital.

Turbulence has overshadowed Tehran ever since the disputed presidential election of June 12th.
