Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and several high-ranking officials have lashed out at some Western countries.

They accuse them of interfering in Iran's post-election affairs as Tehran tries to maintain stability amid lingering unrest. Zeng Siwei has the details.

The Iranian incumbent president made the criticism while addressing a group of clerics at the presidential palace in Tehran.

Iranian state TV channel IRINN is reporting that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that some western countries had pretended to be Iran's friend.

But later, they had issued interfering statements about Iran's internal affairs.

Ahmadinejad mentioned the UK prime minister and the US president as examples.

He also urged them to correct their policies of interference.

Iran's parliament speaker echoed Ahmadinejad's criticism.
