Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

Thanks to the internet, Chinese nationals and foreigners living in China can now register online to book tickets for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The launch of the official ticketing website took place on Thursday.

The official website,--www.tickets.beijing2008.cn-- announced that tickets would be issued in three phases, and that tickets to oversubscribed events will be allocated by a random draw. Overseas residents can buy Olympic tickets from their national Olympic Committee or from designated outlets at the same price as Chinese residents.

Tickets range in price from 30 yuan for preliminary events to up to $5,000 yuan for the opening ceremony.
