Beijing is now reaching the target of balancing revenue and expenditure for the Beijing Olympics. BOCOG outlined its Olympic Marketing achievements on Wednesday.
Forty-eight domestic and international companies are now official sponsors of the Beijing Games. One-hundred-and 30 companies are authorized to manufacture some four thousand official licensed products. Over 500 licensed stores are selling Olympic products across the country. At a weekly news conference, Beijing Olympic organizers were confident about their marketing plan.
Yuan Bin, BOCOG Marketing Department Director, said, "Beijing's Olympic Marketing has been quite successful. The total cost for organizing and operating the Olympics all comes from marketing. "
Preventing counterfeit products and ambush-marketing is also on BOCOG's agenda.
Yuan Bin said, "We are working closely with relevant authorities to crack down on pirating and pirated products. We are also preventing Olympic ambush-marketing by notifying and warning companies involved."
BOCOG's plan this year will include marketing the torch relay, sporting equipment and Hong Kong equestrian sponsors.
