Special Report: 2008 Beijing OlympicsBeijing's Chenjinglun School has held a ceremony with the Canadian Embassy in Beijing to officially launch their participation in BOCOG's "Heart-to-Heart" Partnership Program. The program aims to promote sporting and cultural exchanges.
Thursday's ceremony featured performances by Canadian artists and Chenjinglun students.
Canadian fiddle player Pascal Gemme entertained Chinese students with traditional Canadian folk music. Aerobic dance, diablo and taekwundo performances by Chenjinglun students were highlights at the ceremony.
To mark the event a calligraphy scroll saying "forming eternal ties" was completed.
Participating in the program is expected to enhance the relationship between China and Canada in various fields, especially the Olympics.
Phil Calvert, Minister, Canadian Embassy, said, "We are 2010 Winter Olympics hosts, and it's important for us to cooperate with Beijing."
More Beijing schools will get involved in the program before and during the Olympic Games.
BOCOG's "heart-to-heart" partnership program aims to promote sporting and cultural exchanges between China and other Olympic member countries.
