Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have met for talks with US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. It followed the end of the Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogue that took place this week.
President Hu Jintao said the Strategic Economic Dialogue has become an important platform for China and US to improve mutual trust and expand practical cooperation.
Paulson agreed about the significance of the dialogue, and said it is important to build trust between the two countries. He said communication makes it easier to deal with conflicts and difficulties.

The Strategic Economic Dialogue was also one of the major topics during the meeting between Premier Wen Jiabao and Paulson. Wen Jiabao said there have been conflicts and differences of opinion on the economy and trade, but these were not the main stream.
Wen Jiabao said China takes the trade imbalance between the two countries seriously and has taken a series of measures to reduce the US trade deficit with China. The Premier hoped the US would lift bans on some US exports to China, and provide a fair environment for Chinese enterprises to invest in the United States.
Paulson said his country also hopes for economic development in China. He said it would be of no benefit to the United States if China's economy were to stop growing. Paulson said the US will work with China to build a long-term and steady economic relationship.
