Special Report:   3rd China-U.S. SED

The Third China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue or SED opened this morning in Xianghe, a City near Beijing. Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, are co-chairing the two-day meeting as special envoys of the two heads of state.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Wu said Washington should not blame China for the structural problems of the U.S. economy and reaffirmed China's intention to boost domestic consumption.

Wu renewed a call on the United States to drop restrictions on the export of high-technology goods to China and said she saw huge scope for the two to work together in energy and environmental protection.
