Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has arrived in Karachi, promising to continue her political struggle to unite the opposition parties.
Bhutto was released from house arrest Friday night as jail officials left the residence in the eastern city of Lahore.
Before leaving Lahore, Bhutto said she wanted to restore democracy in Pakistan. Bhutto has called a meeting of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy or ARD on November 21st.
The ARD comprises the two largest political parties in Pakistan, the Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistan Muslim League. They are considered Pakistan's mainstream moderate parties, and together represent the majority of the electorate.
