Iraqi officials confirm Saddam and two Senior Officials hanged at dawn

Saddam Hussein is dead. Senior Iraqi officials have confirmed that the former president and two his Senior Officials were hanged just before dawn local time.

Iraq's Foreign Ministry official Mariam al-Rayis attended the execution this morning. He told state television Al-Iraqiya that Saddam, his half brother Barzan Hassan al-Tikriti and former revolutionary court judge Awad Ahmed al-Bandar were all hanged shortly before 6am in Baghdad.

The whole process was filmed as evidence of his death. Saddam was convicted for crimes against humanity on November 5th. His appeal was rejected by Iraq's highest court on Tuesday.
