South Korean lawmakers said Thursday that a parliamentary vote to impeach President Park Geun-Hye could take place soon.
The opposition-led vote could be as early as December 2, and no later than December 9. More than 30 lawmakers of the ruling Saenuri Party have endorsed the campaign to oust President Park. Two-thirds of votes in the National Assembly are needed to approve the resolution.
If the vote is successful, it would be the first time in 12 years that South Korea's legislature has impeached a president.
