South Korea’s largest opposition party, the Minjoo Party of Korea, has further pushed for the impeachment of President Park Guen-hye in a snowballing corruption scandal. The party has set up a seven-member team to draft an impeachment solution.
Reports said the resolution is likely to be submitted to parliament on November 30 at the earliest and be decided by parliament voting on December 2.
Two-thirds of the vote is needed for the approval of the resolution. Opposition parties are also calling on members of the ruling Saenuri Party to support the impeachment.
Some Saenuri Party members have already discussed impeachment, though no consensus has been reached. They will hold a joint session to finally decide the issue today.
