The Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Thursday test-fired a projectile believed to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile. But some media have reported that the test appeared to have failed.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff told reporters that the missile is believed to be a Musudan missile, and was launched in the morning near an airport in the country's northwestern province of North Pyongan. The launch happened hours after South Korea and the US agreed to step up efforts to counter the nuclear threat posed by the DPRK.
