Greece is becoming an increasingly important trade and culture partner to China and plays an important tole in the Belt and Road Initiative. 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership which was established between the two countries. On August 10th, China’s COSCO Shipping formally completed the transfer of a 51 percent equity holding in Greece's Piraeus Port Authority and the custody of an additional 16 percent stake for 368 million euros.
The project is set to provide a cash boost of more than 1.5 billion euros for the Greek economy and create 125 thousand jobs by 2052. China and Greece have also enjoyed a number of cultural exchanges. One such event was the concert held on September 28th at the Concert Hall in Athens to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China.
