President Xi Jinping met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Hangzhou. He told Abe that China and Japan should “put aside disruptions” and bring their relations back on the normal track as soon as possible.

Xi said long-term, healthy, stable development of ties is conducive to the benefit of the people of both countries, and to regional peace and stability.

Xi called for joint efforts to build on the positive elements of ties, while putting a lid on negative ones.
