Full coverage: THAAD Deployment in South Korea
Voices against the controversial deployment of the anti-missile THAAD system in South Korea are growing louder. Over ninety N-G-Os have formed a 'National Alliance against THAAD' in the capital Seoul, and announced the launch of what they call the 'National Anti-THAAD Campaign'.
Organizers of the campaign said the deployment will foster an arms race among neighboring countries, and threaten the peace and stability of Northeast Asia.
Media reports also say at least 35 opposition lawmakers have urged the government to submit the issue to the National Assembly for examination. The lawmakers insisted it would be unconstitutional to deploy the anti-missile system without approval from the National Assembly.
