Full coverage: THAAD Deployment in South Korea
Political parties in South Korea are fiercely split over the planned deployment of a US anti-missle system. A major opposition lawmaker says it is possible President Park Geun-hye could be impeached over her ignoring the growing public opposition to the THAAD system.
Kim Sang-gon, one of three candidates running for representative of the main opposition party, said that, if Park continues to close her ears to public dissent over THAAD, impeachment demands would be inevitable. According to an opinion poll released by Gallup Korea, Park's latest approval rating has fallen to 33 percent.
