Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is on an official visit here in China. The 5-day visit is expected to produce a series of cooperation documents. And the Second Sino-Greek Marine Cooperation Forum will also be held. According to China's Ambassador to Greece, Zou Xiaoli, Tsipras' visit is significant in four aspects.

First of all, this is the tenth year of building a comprehensive strategic partnership. Second, Greece is struggling to cope with many unstable factors such as refugee influx and terrorism.  The eastern Mediterranean region is undergoing profound changes and adjustments. As part of the region, Greece plays a leading role stabilizing the region's development. Third, the Belt and Road Initiative is expanding into European countries, and the project with the Port of Piraeus has made Greece a significant connector.

Fourth and last, China COSCO Shipping Group will soon take over the Port of Piraeus.  It's one of the most significant examples of cooperation. China hopes Greece will keep its promise and implement their bilateral agreements.  A Greek official recently said the sovereign countries involved should solve the South China Sea disputes through negotiation, taking historical facts and international law into consideration.
