China’s weather authority has again issued a yellow alert for heavy rain, the third highest on the four-tiered alert scale.
Storm clouds are looming over areas stretching from the southwest of the country to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Rainfall will be particularly heavy in Chongqing municipality, Hubei, Hunan, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces.
Rain will lighten up by Wednesday, but that will be short-lived; a new round of downpours is expected from Thursday. Authorities have urged precautions to be taken against possible floods and landslides.
