Severe floods are affecting many parts of the country's south, with Guangdong Province being one of the most affected areas.
On Saturday morning, strong winds and heavy rain lashed Guangdong. North of the province in Lian nan County, continuous rainstorms triggered flash flood in the mountain areas, and local rescue workers had to divert the flood with rocks and sandbags.
As flood season approaches, water levels in 127 rivers across China have exceeded warning levels. Experts say the flooding this year is expected to be more serious than in 1998, one of the worst years on record.
