China's meteorological authority has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain across most of the country from Monday morning to Tuesday morning.
Thunderstorms are expected to hit the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and Anhui, with precipitation reaching 140 millimeters in some regions.
The coming downpours are expected to bring pressure to the Huai River and Lake Taihu. The meteorological authority asks that people reduce their outdoor activities, and take precautions against possible floods and landslides.
China has a four-tier color-coded system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
