US President Barack Obama said on Thursday that the US needs to do more to stop gun violence. He made the statement after offering his condolences and support to the families of the victims in Orlando.
He said, "We're going to have to do more to prevent these kinds of events from occurring. It's going to take more than just our military. It's going to require more than just our intelligence teams."
Obama travelled to Orlando with Vice President Joe Biden as the city prepared to bury victims of the mass shooting. Earlier in the day, Obama and Biden met privately with survivors of the attack, victims' relatives, and police officers who responded to the scene on Sunday.
