The gunman's father has said the family is shocked by what happened. He said the attack was against his principles and against what he taught his son.

 "I take side with those people who got killed and their family and those people who got injured. He had no right to do anything. His right was to go get educated more and pay attention to his family - his wife and his kid, and make sure his son got a good education, and that's the philosophy I have," said Seddique Mateen, father of shooter.
