Full coverage: 50 Dead in Orlando Nightclub Shooting
More than 24 hours has passed since the deadly shooting rampage at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where at least 50 people were killed and another 53 wounded. The Orlando government has released an updated list of the names of the dead, and is reaching out to their relatives. The mother of one of the victims recalled the last conversation she had with her son.
"He texts me at 2:06 and said: 'Mommy, I love you. In the club, there's a shooting.' That was at 2:06. 'Trapped in the bathroom downtown. Please call police, I'm gonna die. Call them momma, now. I'm in the bathroom. He's coming, I'm gonna die,'" said Mina Justice, mother of victim Eddie Justice.
30-year-old Eddie Justice was named as one of the dead. He kept on texting his mother in his last few minutes, who then called and warned the police of the shooting. Mina tried calling her son, but he did not answer, so she texted him instead. She told Eddie that police were there and asked him if the gunman was in the bathroom with him. Eddie replied "Yes", and that's his last word. The mass shooting rampage happened on Sunday night, when a gunman opened fire inside the Pulse nightclub. He took hostages, and he was later shot dead by police.
