Humans of the world unite! That was the central theme of the Fourth Annual Conference of the Taihu World Cultural Forum which has just concluded in Macao. Nearly 1,000 representatives from over 40 countries took part. Representatives from the academic world, businesses, international organizations and media joined forces to work on how to create a more "humanistic community."
A joint statement was released during the closing ceremony of the conference, pointing out that the economic globalization and the development of the internet has made the world a large community that shares the same destiny. No single country can avoid the impact of any global crisis. It calls for a new civilization among all the human beings of the world that would put cooperation and harmony first, rather than confrontation.
The Forum is a national non-governmental organization devoted to Chinese cultural and cross-cultural communication. But this is the first time the event is working with UNESCO's International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences.
