Storms in southeastern and central United States subsided Sunday as Tropical Storm Bonnie was downgraded to a tropical depression, but still caused major flooding in the south. Four people have been reported dead in Texas, while two are missing.
In Germany, violent flooding in the southwestern state of Baden-Wurttemberg claimed four lives. And weather reports say heavy rain will continue in the coming days.
Over in Paris, the French Open suffered its first complete washout since 2000 on Monday. All scheduled matches were canceled because of downpours and a flood warning. Despite a forecast of more rain to come, the organizer said the matches would be underway again today.
