Sports Scene bounces along with NBA playoff action -- where Russell Westbrook and OKC were looking to book their spot into the next round. The Thunder held a 3-1 series edge over Dallas, a team that they have dominated, and if not for a last gasp win in Game two of the series, would have swept them out of the post-season.
Pick things up early, and Kevin Durant curls off the pick and lays it off to Steven Adams for the windmill dunk -- happy ANZAC day to the Kiwi -- and OKC lead by a deuce.
Then Westbrook goes backdoor for the punishing dunk -- start of a big day for the Thunder point guard as the home side are in control.
Then it is his running mate in transition, as Kevin Durant uses every inch of his 6--10 frame too glide to the hoop and put his team in front by a baker's dozen. 33 for KD.
But the circus was in town -- Dirk Nowitzki hits the triple -- and Dallas cuts the margin to 9.
Oklahoma City 118 - Dallas 104
The Mavs would continue to chip away at the margin -- and after some good ball movement -- Wesley Matthews spots up from the land beyond, and suddenly it is a three-point game.
The Thunder would stay in front - Westbrook finding Andre Roberson for the alley-oop -- the lead is back to 9. One of 9 assists for Russ, to go along with 12 rebounds.
Off to the fourth and Big D, is staying in it -- getting a Big three from Justin Anderson to trim the lead to four.
But Dallas had no answer for westbrook, hitting the jumper -- he had a game high 36 points, as OKC would go on and win this one by 14. The Thunder clinch the series in five games, and play San Antonio in the next round.
In other games -- Kemba Walker scored a playoff career-high 34 points to help Charlotte cool off the Heat, and event that series at two wins apiece. And the Porltand Trail Blazers were able to even up their series with the Clippers after a 98-84 win. Al-Farouq Aminu scoring a game high 30 points for Rip City in the win.
