NBA Playoffs: Warriors overcome injury to Curry to take 3-1 series lead

In the NBA Playoffs, Game Four in the Western Conference quarter-final series took place between the defending champions the Golden State Warriors, and the eighth-seeded Houston Rockets.

And after winning Game Three on James Harden's late jumper, H-Town came in hoping to even things up in front of their home fans. League MVP Steph Curry missed the previous two contests with an ankle sprain, but would return for this one, only to experience another setback.

Houston looking to Dwight Howard to step up for them in the paint.

And with the hosts down three at the end of the first quarter, Jason Terry finds Harden for a 30-foot buzzer beater that ties the score at 29. The Beard would finish with 18 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals.

Harden drives into the lane here, and lobs to Howard for the jam. D-12 with 19 points and 15 boards.

Trailing by five, the Dubs turn to Curry, who drills the long three-ball to cut the deficit to a deuce. The Chef finding the net after missing his first four shots from downtown.

Just before half-time, Klay Thompson finds Andre Igoudala for the quick dunk that ties things at 56. But the Rockets have four seconds to score, and Curry takes a bad spill on defense.

The shot by Trevor Ariza is no good, but everybody's focus is on the MVP as his teammates help him get to his feet. Curry tries to walk it off, but eventually leaves the floor with a pretty obvious limp, and that's not what Golden State wants to see.

Reigning league MVP to undergo MRI on knee later Monday

Curry's right leg giving way on a wet spot from when Donetas Montejas went down earlier. The Warriors guard immediately grabs his knee. He's scheduled to undergo an MRI later Monday.

With their leader injured, G-State turns to Thompson after half-time. He would score 23 points, including 7 of the Dubs 21 treys.

That number sets a new NBA Playoff record, with Brandon Rush doing the honors late in the final Q, as the champs win big to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

In Sunday's other action out West, Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points and Tim Duncan celebrated his 40th birthday, by helping second seeded San Antonio sweep Memphis.

Kyrie Irving had 31 points and LeBron James added 22, as the top seeds in the East, Cleveland, did likewise to Detroit.  Boston tied their series against Atlanta at 2-2, winning in overtime despite a 45-point night from the ATL's Paul Millsap.

And in breaking news out of L.A., the Lakers have coach fired Byron Scott after two years in charge. The team had a record of 17-65 this season, second worst in the league.
