Russia has started deliveries of an advanced missile defence system to Iran. Both Moscow and Tehran have confirmed that they're implementing a S-300 defence missile deal that was signed in 2007.
Iranian media reported that parts of the system were shipped through the Caspian Sea, and that they were seen on trucks in the northern port city of Anzali. Russia and Iran signed an 800-million-US dollar deal almost a decade ago, which required Moscow to supply Tehran with five S-300 missile systems.
The deal was later suspended due to pressure from the West. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the self-imposed ban last year in April.
