The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has fired a ground-to-air missile into eastern waters. That's according to the South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The missile flew about 100 kilometers. It was launched shortly before 1pm today local time, or 0345 GMT, from the eastern region near the coast of Seondeok in South Hamgyeong province.
The launch comes just three days after Pyongyang fired one round of its new 300-millimeter multiple rocket launcher in a northeastern direction.
Tensions have been high since Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test on January 6th. The country now faces tough sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, which has banned the DPRK from conducting any ballistic missile tests.
