Iran has dismissed a recent statement by the European Union regarding the trial of British and French embassy staff, allegedly involved in Iran's post-election riots.

A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry said his country would stand firm against what he called "irrational demands" by the EU.

The EU demanded the immediate release of an EU citizen and two employees of the British and French embassies in Tehran. The spokesman also said the trials of these individuals were being conducted according to the law and with complete transparency.

On Saturday, Iran held the second hearing for the trial of the protestors and activists who were arrested after the disputed presidential election.
