In Pakistan, a suicide bomber targeting security forces has killed at least 11 people, and wounded 35. It comes a day after a suicide attack on the military killed at least 45 victims.

Local media say the suicide bomber was shot at before he could reach the security check post. Several vehicles caught fire after the attack. Militants have gone on the offensive again after a relative lull in violence. The blast in Mingora, capital of the Swat Valley, is the sixth blast this week, adding pressure to President Asif Ali Zardari.

This is part of a renewed Taliban push against the government after one of the biggest security crackdowns in years. Pakistan launched a security offensive in the Swat Valley last year.
