The first explosive device was attached to a motorcycle, and detonated as a passenger coach drove by. The vehicle was carrying mainly women and children headed to a religious gathering.

The second bomb was planted on a motorcycle in the parking lot of the hospital where the victims from the bus blast were being treated.

Karachi has experienced a number of attacks aimed at minority Shiites in the last few weeks.
