Khamenei says Iran opposes nuclear weapons

Iran's officials speak out Iran's supreme leader says that US officials are "wrong" about his country's nuclear program and the threat posed by Iran's missiles.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made the remarks on Iranian's government- run English- language Press TV on Sunday. He said allegations that Iran was intent on producing nuclear weapons were "untrue and unjust."

He added that his country is "fundamentally" opposed to such weapons. The US and other Western countries claim that Iran intends to secretly develop nuclear weapons.

Iran insists that its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes, and has vowed to continue its uranium enrichment activity despite pressure and sanctions from the West.
