An Iranian analyst says Barack Obama's decision came after Washington realized what he calls the "truthfulness of Iran".
Iran has always maintained that it is not pursuing nuclear weapons. And unofficial reactions there have been largely positive.
Professor Majid Abhari, Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, said, "And also because in this present situation, the American people cannot afford military expenses above and beyond Iraq and Afghanistan."
Mr. Kiyani, Tehran Resident, said, "I think there are symptoms of friendship and special relations between Iran and the United States. I hope this can further develop in the future. It seems that Mr. Obama has realized that he cannot succeed with threats and force, because adopting such means in the past 30 years had resulted in nothing but losses."
