TEHRAN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry Wednesday said the claim of French officials on Iran's nuclear issue contradicts evidence of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),the official IRNA news agency reported.

The claim of the French officials on Iran's nuclear program lacks authenticity and it is in line with Paris' "illogical and hostile" views towards Tehran, the report quoted spokesman Hassan Qashqavi as saying.

"We are afraid to learn that the remarks of the French president is in complete contradiction with evidence of IAEA's experts," said Qashqavi, adding that the remarks are "obviously politically-intended."

In the fresh statements by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, he said the Islamic republic is still working on a nuclear weapons program.

Paris warned that new sanctions against Teheran remains an option despite the likelihood of negotiations with Iran.

The talks between Iran and the six major powers, namely the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany, is expected be held on Oct. 1 in Turkey, according to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
