Olympic champion and world record holder Liu Xiang won the 110 men's hurdles in Sunday's IAAF Grand Prix in Sheffield, England. Persistent rain meant there was virtually no hope for a disappointed Liu Xiang to beat the world record.

Despite a headwind at the Don Valley Stadium, Liu Xiang won in a time of 13.23 ahead of Ryan Wilson of the United States, who finished in 13.27.

Last year, Liu Xiang ran 12.88 to break the world record he had previously shared with Colin Jackson of Britain.

Despite the win, Liu Xiang later said he was less than satisfied with his performance.
