Chinese Olympic gold medallist Liu Xiang is once again expected to dominate the 110 meter hurdles, but he's keeping it modest.
Liu Xiang, the Chinese Olympic champion and the world record holder for the 110m hurdles has won all three of the events on the IAAF World Athletics Tour this season. But the 23-year-old is surprisingly pensive about his opposition on Friday.
Liu said, "Every athlete in the starting line-up is a friend and I don't like to comment about other athletes because I like everybody. I never think that I'm going to win against this or that guy, I only want to do my best."
After having missed out on a gold medal in the two previous World Championships, the Asian superstar is really looking forward to his upcoming Osaka adventure at the World Championships in late August.
"I feel well prepared ahead of the World Championships. I still have one month left until Osaka and I'm going to race three more times, right now in Paris, then Lausanne and then Sheffield. After that I will train in Shanghai in mid-July and finally in Beijing for the final round of preparations. I would really like to win in Osaka," said Liu.
The Stade de France hosts the opening day of the second round of the Golden League in Paris on Friday.
