Special Report: 2008 Beijing OlympicsBeijing Olympic organizers say 350 thousand people have applied to be volunteers for next year's Summer Games and Paralympics. That's more than three times the number of people they need.
About half of the applicants are university teachers and students in Beijing. The rest are from other parts of the country.
And most of them are young. Officials say all recruits will be given an Identity Card, a uniform and free food, transport and accident insurance during their service.
Recruitment of volunteers from abroad will start this month.
