Special Report: 2008 Beijing OlympicsReservations for tickets to the 2008 Olympics will begin in April. The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games saysthere will be three rounds of ticket sales. Wang Mangmang explains the setup.
Next year in Beijing, a total of seven million tickets will be available to the public, of which sixty thousand are for the opening ceremony.
However, as some of the venues are not yet ready and event schedules still await finalization, there will be no fixed seat numbers or names of participating teams on the tickets.
Liu Jingming, executive VP of BOCOG, said, "The first round is reserved for various Olympic committee members, sponsors, partners, the media. And then for the public. The second round is basically for tickets returned from abroad and resold domestically. The third round is for actual tickets with fixed matches."
Officials with the BOCOG say there will be no staff discounts or gift tickets, but one million tickets will be reserved for young people. The price ranges from five yuan for the tryouts to ten yuan for the finals. The organizing committee hopes the affordable price will increase student turnout for the Games.
